2/1/2011- The British actor, who appeared in Alien 3, Lost World: Jurassic Park and The Usual Suspects, died aged 64 after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer.

10/2/2011 - The Chief of Staff of the Egyptian armed forces from May 1971 till December 1973 and the genious mastermind behind the successful Egyptian attack on the Israeli Bar-Lev line of defense in the war of October 1973; the proud Egyptian had passed away at the age of 88 after a long illness.

28/2/2011 - John Kobal Foundation - The actress, once one of Hollywood's leading sex symbols during the 1940s and 1950s, died of a respiratory-related illness at the age of 89.

March: Elizabeth Taylor

23/3/2011 - The legendary actress, glamour icon and star of such cinematic classics as Cleopatra and Suddenly, Last Summer died at the age of 79 after years of ill health.

April: Sidney Lumet

9/4/2011 -Dimitrios Kambouris - The prolific Academy Award-winning US director who had over 50 films to his name died from lymphoma at the age of 86.

May: Macho Man Randy Savage

20/5/2011 - Kevin Mazur - The flamboyant former WWF wrestler died at the age of 58 after suffering a heart attack while driving.

 June: Peter Falk

23/6/2011- The American actor most famous for his role as the eponymous hero in detective show Columbo died at the age of 83 following a series of health problems.

 July: Soad Mohamed

4/7/2011 - The Egyptian-Lebanese singer is famous for recording more than 3000 songs with her wonderful voice. She passed away in her home in Cairo at the age of 85 following her long illness.

23/7/2011 -The British pop sensation was found dead in her home at the age of 27 after her much-reported battles with drugs and alcohol.

August: Hend Rostom

The Egyptian leading sex icon of the Egyptian cinema's Black & White era Hend Rostom passed away at the age of 82. The blonde beauty was even called The Eastern Marilyn Monroe.

14/8/2011 - The Egyptian singer/actor passed away at the age of 56 after a long battle with illness; he was born in Alexandria and inherited the music passion from his parents since a very early age.

 August: Kamal AlShennawy

22/8/2011 - One of the most famous Jeune Premier of the Arabian cinema, Kamal AlShennawy passed away at the age of 89 after having starred in numerous Egyptian classics many of which had made it in the official Best 100 Egyptian Movies list.

August: Jerry Lieber

22/8/2011- The American songwriter who, along with partner Mike Stoller, was responsible for creating such classic hits as Elvis Presley's Hound Dog and Jailhouse Rock and Ben E. King's Stand By Me, died at the age of 77 from from cardio-pulmonary failure.

September: Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team

7/9/2011 - Nearly the entire playing and coaching staff of Russian ice hockey team Lokomotiv Yaroslavl were killed following a plane crash. Forty-four people died in the disaster.

October: Steve Jobs

5/10/2011 - Apple founder, former CEO and revered tech pioneer Steve Jobs died at the age of 56 following a long battle with cancer.

October: Omar AlHariri

16/10/2011 - Another one of Egypt's cinema icons had passed away, AlHariri died at the age of 86 after an extremely short 4-day-long battle with illness, just days before he'd fallen sick, he was on stage performing in a children's play.

October: Sultan Bin Abdel Aziz

22/10/2011 - His Highness, Prince Sultan Bin Abdel Aziz, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia died at the age of 80 in New York after loosing his battle with cancer.

November: Sayed Azmy

2/11/2011 - The Egyptian actor was most famous for portraying the role of the puppet Bo'oloz with the prominent Nagwa Ibrahim in a children's TV program during the 80s, but he also starred in many TV series in much more dramatic roles.

19/11/2011 - At the age of 74, the veteran funny Egyptian actress had died at the Shorouk hospital in Cairo after starring in many movies and TV series; her funeral was attended by many artists.

20/11/2011 - The fierce government opponent of the former Egyptian regime had died following a heart attack. He was a very prominent politician and the nephew of the late Egyptian President Anwar AlSadat.

26/11/2011 - The music arena in Egypt lost Amer Mounib who deceased at the age of 48. The Egyptian popular singer passed away after loosing his battle with cancer and falling into a coma prior to his death.

December: Sócrates

5 December 2011. The legendary former Brazilian football captain (and qualified doctor) died at the age of 57 after being rushed to hospital suffering from intestinal problems.

December: Ahmed Samy Abdallah

12 December 2011. The most famous Old Man in the modern Egyptian cinema has passed away at the age of 81. Abdallah had only started working in movies after his retirement at the age of 51, but proved to be one of the most wanted faces by audience. He’s given one of his most memorable performances in “Kit Kat” movie.
