Locklear was taken from her home to Los Angeles Hospital by ambulance after her sister called 911 around 2pm local time yesterday, US media are reporting.

A spokesman for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said that Locklear was conscious when authorities arrived.

“Emergency response personnel responded to a medical emergency call at Ms Locklear’s residence,” he told People magazine.

“Once they arrived, it was determined that Ms Locklear needed to be transported to the hospital for further medical attention.”

He said hospital staff were now “taking care of her situation.”
